How does exercise help diabetes?

Have you thought of exercising as a diabetic individual? But you were not so sure of how to go about it or how a diabetes exercise plan will help?

Exercise is a good thing that our body needs. We need to exercise to keep our body fit and healthy. We need to exercise for at least 30minutes a day in order to be fit and healthy. Exercise according to scientists is good for the overall wellbeing of a human. Our brain and body needs to stay healthy, and how does it gets to be healthy? That’s when exercise came in.

When you exercise for at least 30minutes, mild exercise and a not hard one, you give your body the chance to utilize insulin. Insulin helps your body to make use of the blood sugars/glucose.

How does exercise affect blood sugar?

First what is blood sugar? Blood sugar is the glucose/sugars that are present in the blood. This blood sugars/glucose comes from the food we eat, mostly from carbohydrate. This blood sugar/glucose can be in high level after a meal. When they can not be utilized and are high, they are termed hyperglycemia (increase in blood sugar level). When this blood sugars are abnormally low they are termed hypoglycaemia. Insulin plays the major role in the regulation of this blood glucose.

As a diabetic individual, the insulin is unavailable or unable to to carry out its regulatory function. As a result there will be increased in blood glucose level due to inability of insulin to carry out its regulatory function. But when you exercise, this helps the body to be sensitive to insulin thereby helping the body to make use of the glucose.

But note, don’t engage in a hard exercise, because this will cause you to be hypoglycaemic a condition characterised by decreased blood sugar level.

Swimming

Swimming for at least 30-40minutes will make your heart race and help exercise your body and muscles. This is highly recommended for diabetic individual who wants to exercise.

Indoor cycling

Cycling is a nice way to burn some calories and exercise indoor without moving an inch out of your home. So give cycling a try.

Yoga

Yoga helps to reduce stress and stretch your joints. So try out yoga if other exercise are too hard for you.

Tai chi

Tai chi helps to enhance physical and mental fitness. Tai chi aslo help to improve posture, balance, flexibility, and strength. In addition, tai chi is said to boost mood, alleviate pain, strengthen the immune system, and improve heart health. So give tai chi a try today

Brisk walking

Brisk walking also mean walking at a fast pace. Doing this for at least 30-40minute will help your body to exercise. So try out brisk walking today. Though with brisk walking you may have to leave your house.

Dancing

Dancing is one of the mild exercise to do as a diabetic individual. With dancing, you shake your body thereby exercising your body. While dancing also help your heart race faster. It’s a good way to exercise.

Rock climbing

Rock climbing is a nice idea to exercise your body. But be careful not to go and climb a very huge rock that may leads to hypoxia. Rock climbing is actually a nice idea to try out

Skipping

Skipping is one of the cheapest and easiest way to exercise the body. You don’t have to leave your house before you can exercise. So try out skipping today

Scuba diving

Scuba diving is another way to exercise. Though i don’t highly recommend this, but if you have been used to it, i think its not a bad idea to keep to it. One problem with this is that it’s expensive form of exercise and you have to leave your house.

Push up

Push up is one form of exercise that can be done at the comfort of your home. It is one of the cheapest and mild form of exercise. So give it a try and you will enjoy it.

Squats

Squats is one of the mild and cheapest form of exercise that can be done at the comfort of your home. Give squatting a try today.

Jogging

Jogging is one of the cheapest and mild form of exercise. Though one problem with this is that you have to leav your home. Though it’s highly advice able to jogg for at least 30-40minutes a day.
